The German Economic Film Prize is used to promote German short films that deal with topics of modern industrial and service society in Germany. It has been awarded annually by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology since 1968 , until 1980 under the name of the German Industrial Film Prize . The aim of the award is to promote societal understanding of economic relationships. Since 2008 it has been part of the Federal Government's initiative for culture and creative industries . The partner is the city of Ludwigsburg . The film award is an award that consists of a certificate for the first three places in a category and a trophy for the first place in each category. The film's designers, producers and clients receive the award jointly. As part of the promotion of young talent, up to 3 cash prizes totaling € 20,000 are awarded in category 4.

Categories

I. Films about the economy (until 2017), since 2018: Economy well explained

The filmic presentation deals with economic relationships and developments in the social market economy, especially in the areas of information society, innovation, technology, the world of work, the environment and consumer protection. This category can also include topics related to economic development in Europe and global globalization. The films are produced or commissioned and broadcast by German public or private television companies.

II. Films from the economy (until 2017), since 2018: Economy well presented

Films from the economy (i.e. commissioned by the economy or associations or other public institutions). The filmic representation deals with companies or institutions and their products and services. The presentation must go beyond pure product or company advertising and commercials. Pure product advertising films and commercials are excluded from participation in the competition.

III. Films in new media (until 2017), since 2018: Films produced innovatively

This category should be trend-setting for marketing strategies in the new media. As in categories 1 and 2, the content of the films should deal with economic relationships and developments or the presentation of companies / institutions and their products / services. The implementation of the film content relies on new forms of marketing, such as social networks and new media. The methods of publication used are video clips or contributions in Internet forums and blogs - such as B. You-Tube, MyVideo, Clipfish, sevenload or Web2.0 channels such as XING, twitter and Facebook. The presentation must go beyond pure product or company advertising. Commercials are excluded from participation in the competition.

IV. Cinematic presentations by students / young professionals (until 2017), since 2018: young talent films

Cinematic presentations from categories I., II. And III., Which have been designed and implemented by students or young professionals. As a rule, they should not have been active in the field of business films for more than three years .

V. Jury Prize (since 2018)

The jury award is given to a company that has distinguished itself in the film industry through its innovation and economic strength.
