Carol Schuler (born January 23, 1987 in Winterthur , Canton of Zurich ) is a Swiss actress and singer .

Life

Schuler made her first appearance at the age of five in Winterthur. She has been working as a film and television actress since she was twelve. She played her first leading role in the television film "Lieber Brad" (director: Lutz Konermann, 2001), for which she was awarded the Swiss Film Prize for Best Actress . This was followed by other film roles, including in "Everything stays different" by Güzin Kar and "Love and other accidents" directed by Tom Gerber. She was also featured in Dani Levy's »Tatort - Dirty Thursday« .

In 2006 she moved to Berlin and completed her acting training at the European Theater Institute in Berlin . This was followed by engagements at the Schauspielhaus Zürich , where she was shown a. a. in “Geri” by Martin Suter and Stephan Eicher (directors: Stefan Bachmann, 2010), “Swiss Beauty” by Dani Levy (2015).

In 2014 she began working with Herbert Fritsch in “The Black Pike” based on Emil Sautter (2014), “Who is Afraid of Hugo Wolf?” By Herbert Fritsch (2016) and at the Zurich Opera in “King Arthur” by Henry Purcell (2016) . Herbert Fritsch was also the one who brought Carol to the Volksbühne on Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz , where she could be seen in his last production »Pfusch«.

Schuler has also been successful in Germany for a number of years. In the movie »Nachtlärm« (director: Christoph Schaub, 2012) she played one of the leading roles alongside Alexandra Maria Lara , Sebastian Blomberg and Georg Friedrich . She also played alongside Jürgen Vogel in “Blochin - Die Lebenden und die Toten” (Director: Matthias Glasner, 2014), alongside Anja Kling in “Twin Room” (Director: Isabel Kleefeld, 2016) and was on the big screen in Jule Ronstedt's directorial debut » Maria Mafiosi « (2017) can be seen as a Mafia bride. Carol Schuler can also be seen in the fifth season of the Showtime series » Homeland « (directed by Michael Offer and Lesli Linka Glatter), which was filmed in 2015 in Berlin.

She has been a permanent member of the Schaubühne Berlin ensemble since the 2017/18 season . Schuler has been featured in the German Netflix series Skylines since September 2019 .

Carol Schuler appears regularly as a singer, for example with her soul boogaloo band “El Cartel” or with her 20s swing band “Chloé et les Enfants Terribles”.

Schuler lives in Berlin.
