Herbert Fritsch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Herbert Fritsch (born January 20, 1951 in Augsburg ) is a German actor , director and media artist .

Life

Herbert Fritsch completed his acting training at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich. He then played on various major stages at home and abroad. He is one of the Castorf actors and worked at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin from the early 1990s to 2007 .

At the same time, Fritsch worked as a media artist. For example, he developed a photo technique for three-dimensional analog distortion, which was patented, and showed several exhibitions in Germany and Switzerland with photo works and computer animation. He also began working with art films in the 1980s. The networking of the various arts and media in Fritsch's work became clearer and more intense over time. Since 2000 these efforts have resulted in the intermedia art project hamlet_X . This project brings together almost all media and forms of expression. In this project, Fritsch was an actor, film and theater director, author, performer, photographer and draftsman.

In 2009, the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival dedicated a retrospective to his entire cinematic work. The early films (...) were undoubtedly a discovery. In a cinema of corporeality, not unrelated to that of Mara Mattuschka , Fritsch creates absurd, tragicomic situations. (Hans Schifferle)

Since leaving the Volksbühne, Fritsch has worked as a director at various German theaters such as the New Theater Halle , the Theater Oberhausen , the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden , the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz and the Schauspiel Leipzig , the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin, the Bremen Theater or the Thalia Theater in Hamburg.

Two productions by Herbert Fritsch were invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen 2011: Nora or A Puppet House by Henrik Ibsen (Theater Oberhausen) and Der Biberpelz by Gerhart Hauptmann ( Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin ). From then until 2017 he took part in the Theatertreffen annually.

He lives in Berlin.
