action

After twelve years in prison, the actress Carla Sagmeister is released from prison. Due to an incorrect report by the renowned forensic scientist Dr. Borchert she was once convicted of manslaughter of her lover Erik Vonhoff. Back in the wild, she got hold of a pistol, which she used to kill Dr. Borchert wants to force her to reopen her case in order to be able to prove her innocence. After all, the scientist himself had doubts about his research at the time. He decides to reevaluate the blurry images from a surveillance camera that show the last visitor to the murder victim.

Meanwhile, Carla wants to get in touch with her family and friends, most of whom have turned away from her during her detention. Especially her daughter Yvonne, who only knew her mother as a selfish woman, continues to be extremely dismissive towards Carla. To her horror, Carla only now learns that Yvonne has a son named Fabian, whom Erik had fathered before his death. Only Erik's sister Sabine, who suffers from multiple sclerosis and now lives in Erik's villa, had kept in touch with Carla over the years.

While Carla tries to find the real killer, she is confronted with persistent silence from her family and friends. Only when she moves into the villa's guest house at Sabine's request does Carla finally come closer to the truth. It turns out that Yvonne was the woman on the surveillance camera recordings, but ultimately Sabine confesses that she shot her brother. Sabine's son Lukas wants to spare his sick mother a trial, which is why he asks Carla not to reopen the trial. Dr. Borchert and even Yvonne want to go public with the new results. However, Carla ultimately waives any compensation.
