Caroline Therese Aksinia Peters (born September 7, 1971 in Mainz ) is a German actress who belongs to the ensemble of the Vienna Burgtheater . She had her most popular role in the satirical crime series Murder with a View , in which between 2008 and 2014 she played the police superintendent transferred from the big city to an Eifelkaff a total of 39 times. In the cinema she was in The First Name of Sönke Wortmann and in the Austrian comedy What did we deserve? to see.

Caroline Peters is a Grimme Prize winner , won the Bavarian Television Prize and was twice voted actress of the year in the critics' poll of the magazine Theater heute . She has been a member of the German Film Academy since 2018 .

Life

Caroline Peters is the daughter of the psychiatrist Uwe Henrik Peters and the literary scholar Johanne Peters, geb. Schuchardt. She grew up first in Mainz and from the age of eight in Cologne. She completed her acting training at the Saarland University of Music and Theater in Saarbrücken. Her first engagement took her to the Berlin Schaubühne on Lehniner Platz in 1995 . From 1999 she was engaged at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg , the Volksbühne Berlin and the Schauspielhaus Zurich . She is a member of the ensemble at the Burgtheater in Vienna , where she was nominated for the Nestroy Theater Prize in the category “ Best Supporting Role ” in 2006 for her portrayal of Rosalie in Höllenangst .

In the 2010/2011 season, Peters worked in Vienna a. a. Together with Christiane von Poelnitz and Tilo Nest at the Austrian premiere of Roland Schimmelpfennig's Peggy Pickit sees the face of God , in the same season she was also seen at the Cologne Theater in the world premiere of Elfriede Jelinek's Das Werk / Im Bus / Ein Sturz .

In the 2011/2012 season, Peters was in Vienna a. a. together with Katharina Lorenz and Michael Maertens in the premiere of Elfriede Jelinek's German-language version of Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband , The Ideal Man, on the stage of the Akademietheater , also in the 2013/2014 season.

In the season 2012/2013 Peters appeared in Vienna at the Burgtheater in Professor Bernhardi by Arthur Schnitzler and in the Akademietheater in Uncle Vanja von Chekhov .

In the 2013/2014 season, in addition to her performances in The Ideal Man, she was also seen in the Academy Theater in Uncle Wanja and in the world premiere of Das Geisterhaus based on Isabel Allende 's novel of the same name .

In the 2014/2015 season, Peters appeared as Ella Rentheim in John Gabriel Borkman after Henrik Ibsen in an adaptation by Simon Stone and as Isabel, actress / gorse cat / pepper mill in The Empire of the Animals by Roland Schimmelpfennig and was in the (male) role of the Dr. Cyprian can be seen as professor for nervous diseases in the resumption of Schnitzler's professor Bernhardi .

Peters made her television debut in 1998 in Bernd Schadewald's Der Pirat. In 2004 she appeared in front of the camera as Pia Himmelman for the Israeli film Walk on Water . In March 2007, Peters was awarded the Adolf Grimme Prize for her performance in Arnies Welt together with her fellow actors Jörg Schüttauf and Matthias Brandt and Isabel Kleefeld (script / director) . After the end of Funny, Arnies Welt and Schlaflos , Im Netz marked her fourth collaboration with director Isabel Kleefeld alongside Wolfram Koch . From 2008 to 2014, Peters played the leading role as Chief Detective Sophie Haas in the Eifel crime series Murder with a View .

Caroline Peters also speaks in radio play productions. Private

Peters has a sister and a half brother. She lives in Vienna and spends a lot of time in Cologne, where she often shoots, and in Berlin, where her siblings live.
