Lore Stefanek (* 1943 in Bratislava ) is an Austrian theater actress and theater director .

Life

After graduating from high school, she studied acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna from 1961 to 1964 . From 1961 to 1964 she was engaged at the Landestheater Linz , from 1966 to 1968 at the Stadttheater Pforzheim .

In 1968 she got an engagement at the Städtische Bühnen Heidelberg , where she stayed until 1970. From 1970 to 1972 she was engaged at the Braunschweig State Theater and the Darmstadt State Theater .

From 1972 to 1979 she was a member of the Frankfurt Schauspiel ensemble , including in Edward Bond's plays Lear (1972) and Die See (1974), as well as Mrs. John in Die Ratten (1973), Jokaste in King Oedipus and Ismene in Antigone (each 1979). In 1979 she made her directorial debut with Jean Genet's Die Mafen .

From 1979 to 1984 she was under contract at the Schauspielhaus Bochum . She has been a freelance actress and director since 1984. She staged at the theater in Freiburg im Breisgau , at the Theater Oberhausen , the Maxim-Gorki-Theater , for the Free Volksbühne Berlin and at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg.

In 1989 she was in Darmstadt for the world premiere of Gerlind Reinshagens Tanz, Marie! seen in the title role. As a rule, she appeared on television only in the context of theater broadcasts. Her participation in the crime film Schnell Geld (The Long Shadow of a Morning) remained an exception. From 1993 to 2001 she was a professor at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin .

In September 2011 she played the leading role in Elfriede Jelinek's play “Winterreise” in the Bockenheimer Depot of the Städtische Bühnen Frankfurt in Frankfurt am Main.
