Juliane Schubert is a successful management consultant. In the middle of the night, however, her apartment is stormed by a special task force and she is led away like a felon. As Commissioners Theissen and Hinrichs explain to her, cars and apartments were rented using Schubert's credit card in order to prepare for a terrorist attack. Schubert doesn't know anything and can't explain it.

It turns out that a stranger stole her identity . That's why Schubert is no longer allowed to use cell phones and the Internet, the phone and e-mail inbox are monitored, her apartment is bugged , she is shadowed by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution and is trauma from the night the police woke her up. She is no longer tenable for the company either, despite having worked for many years, she is given notice. She decides to find the perpetrator on her own and puts herself in great danger.
