Katharina Lorenz is a German actress.She was born on December 19, 1978 in Leverkusen .

life and work

Katharina Lorenz began her acting career at the Junge Theater Leverkusen. She also took ballet and dance lessons from childhood. After studying acting at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich, she received an engagement at the Münchner Kammerspiele . It was during this time that she appeared on stage for the first time in What You Want by William Shakespeare . After three years, Katharina Lorenz switched to the Hanover Theater as a permanent member , where she received mostly positive to very good individual reviews in her leading roles, such as viola in Was Ihr wollt .

In addition to her appearances in Hanover, she took on guest roles at other theaters (including the Deutsches Theater Berlin ) and played in films such as Keine Lieder über Liebe . With Three Sisters of Anton Chekhov , Lorenz took part in the role of Mascha at the Berlin Theatertreffen . In 2006 Katharina Lorenz was voted best young actress by the magazine Theater heute .

In addition to her work at the theater, Katharina Lorenz also appeared in some television films, which were often characterized by prominent cast. In the drama You belong to me (ZDF) she plays the role of journalist and wife Melanie alongside Tobias Moretti. In the movie Kammerflimmern , she played alongside Ulrich Noethen , Bibiana Beglau and Rosel Zech . As Sara Stein, Berlin detective with Jewish roots, Lorenz can be seen in the lead role of the ARD series Der Tel-Aviv-Krimi . The first broadcast of the pilot episode Death in Berlin in the ARD main evening program was on March 3, 2016.

Katharina Lorenz has been engaged at the Burgtheater Vienna since the 2008/2009 season , where she played Margarete (Gretchen) in the Faust production by the Burgtheater director Matthias Hartmann alongside Gert Voss and Tobias Moretti .

Katharina is the granddaughter of the Leverkusen artist Kurt Lorenz , her father is the musician and artist / painter Peter Lorenz.
