action
Episode 1 Death in Berlin
The murder of the Israeli DJane Tamar becomes a challenge for Sara Stein, who is hardly interested in religious views. Public pressure to resolve the case is mounting, and suspicion arises that there may be a political background to the crime. The friend of the murdered, the Palestinian Khalid, and his family are at the center of the investigation. When Khalid's father out of the blue confesses to the murder, Sara Stein is alarmed that there may still be unknown dimensions in this case. She digs deeper and thereby neglects her private life including her new lover, the Israeli musician David, more and more. After all, they even bring their research to Tel Aviv.

background
The production company TV60Filmproduktion produced the crime series for ARD Degeto . The filming of the first episode took place in November / December 2014 in Berlin, after which the film continued in Tel Aviv. The first episode was originally supposed to start in Tel Aviv, but because of the Gaza War , the plot was moved to Berlin.
With the first episode of the series, ARD picks up on the recent relocation of many young Israelis to Berlin.
reception
Thorsten Schmitz , longtime correspondent for the Süddeutsche Zeitung in Israel, criticized in a review of the first two episodes that the production did not leave out any cliché regarding the relationship between Israelis, Germans, Palestinians, secular and religious people. Almost all of the characters had the authors "tied a Middle East conflict package around their stomachs that [they] threaten to suffocate". In order not to make a mistake, the feelings of those involved fell by the wayside.
Ursula Scheer, on the other hand, praised in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung that the authors “let their characters talk about all the sensitivities [...] as if they were passing by”. In addition, she highlights the performance of the main actress Katharina Lorenz with her “balanced mixture of cool efficiency, sporty friendliness, fearlessness and grace on demand”.
