A Franco-German police unit, headed by chief investigator Steffen Herold, forms the focus of this crime series, which sometimes comes up with a lot of action and tension. Herold's team, which works from the Baden-Württemberg town of Kehl , includes his daughter Leni and his French colleague Yves Kléber, who supports the investigative team when exceptional situations require rapid intervention on the French side. Yves Kléber and Steffen Herold have known each other for over 20 years. At the beginning of episode 3 Herold is shot, his successor is Niko Sander.
