Karmela Shako
Karmela Shako (born March 30, 1987 in Kinshasa , Democratic Republic of the Congo ) is a German actress .
Life
At the age of eight months she moved with her parents to Saint-Denis near Paris. Her theater career began in the church in which her mother was active. When she was eleven, she moved to Cologne with her family.
From 2011 to 2015 she studied at the Theater Academy in Cologne . Her TV and film career then began with the award-winning and internationally acclaimed series Familie Braun , a ZDF political satire in which she plays the pregnant lover of a Nazi. She has also been a guest at Theaterhaus Stuttgart since 2017 in Stefano Massini's contemporary drama 7 Minuten , for which she was awarded the Monica Bleibtreu Prize .
She advocates women's rights and supports various social projects in Africa.
One of her greatest role models - already in childhood - was Papa Wemba , who passed away in 2016.
