Thomas Sarbacher (born January 25, 1961 in Hamburg ) is a German actor .

Life

After graduating from high school, Thomas Sarbacher first did a bank apprenticeship, which was followed by two and a half years of study in Mannheim before he decided to train as an actor. At that time he was already 26 years old and chose the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz , as there was no age limit for new students. After completing almost four years of training, he was employed by the Bremen Shakespeare Company . He was a member of the ensemble from 1990 to 1995. The following year he played in the Theater am Neumarkt Zurich and the City Theater in Klagenfurt . From 1997 to 1999 he was a member of the Konstanz City Theater .

During this time he stood in front of the camera for a television production for the first time (1998). Directed by Sandra Nettelbeck , he played together with Senta Berger in the comedy Mammamia . After initially making further smaller appearances in television productions, their number steadily increased. From 2003/2004 he finally became known to a larger audience with the role of Chief Detective Matthias Steiner in the Sat1 television series The Elephant - Mord never barred . By 2006 a total of 21 episodes had been broadcast. In 2006 he stood in front of the camera in the first movie for him, Underdogs . The premiere of the film was in 2008, in which the film Die Welle was also released for the first time; in him he played the role of father Karo . In the film, Thomas Sarbacher usually embodies particularly robust and distinctive characters.
