action
In the winter present (2005), Jan from Düsseldorf stops at the lonely village cemetery in Heroldsbach and goes with his daughter Lisa to the grave of a certain Peter Laux , who died in 1971 . At the resting place Jan begins to tell his daughter the background story.
Heroldsbach, 1981 . Jan is 11 years old. He lives with his friends Basti and Stevie in a settlement of new single-family houses in town. The clique of three lives in constant quarrel with the gang of the boyish farmer's daughter Marie . Both groups argue about various youthful things - but above all about a dilapidated villa that no one has ever entered. Shortly afterwards, when Jan learns from his parents that the family is moving to Düsseldorf before the end of the summer holidays, he wants to venture one last adventure with his friends, whom he will soon have to leave behind.
The trio therefore breaks into the villa and discovers the hideout of the " white falcons ", a gang of boys that was legendary ten years earlier and whose leader Peter Laux has been missing since then. Jan discovers a secret map in a group emblem, which, after deciphering, is supposed to direct the owner to the treasure of the falcons. Jan, Basti and Stevie decide to track down this gem for their last joint venture. But Marie's gang gets wind of the company.
Without their parents' knowledge, Jan and his friends set out on a hike of several days to the treasure, which is said to be near an abandoned castle ruin - always pursued by Marie and her gang. When both groups finally meet, the diabetic Basti falls into hypoglycaemia due to overexertion . The only salvation is his glucagon syringe , which is in Basti's belt pouch that was lost along the way. Jan and Marie sign a truce and go to get the bag. When Jan frees Marie from a predicament on the way back, the two become friendly.
When one of Marie's group steals the card, a tangible argument breaks out between her and Jan, because he believes she has stolen it. In a general scuffle, the two finally discover the access to an underground cave system near the castle ruins. The youngsters penetrate the rock labyrinth, with Jan, Stevie, Basti and Marie being separated from the rest by a stone avalanche - as well as the only way out. The four finally come to a cave with a white falcon relief. This is where Peter and his friends founded the “white falcons” - the cave is the treasure, as it reminded them of the founding and their friendship. Jan also finds Peter Laux's body here. His falcon friends all moved away back then, which caused Peter to perish. Jan sees parallels to himself in this, but does not want to indulge in the same fate. He finally finds a way out and saves his friends.
Jan goes to Peter's mother and tells her about her son's fate. The woman finally gives Jan his falcon amulet. A few days later, Jan's family finally moves away. He says goodbye to his friends, but wants to visit them next year. On the way he meets Marie, with whom he becomes friends and gives her the falcon amulet as a goodbye.
In the cemetery, grown-up Jan lights a candle at Peter's grave - and finds the falcon amulet. Marie, whom he has never seen since then, has not forgotten what happened either.
criticism
"A sensitively developed youth film with convincing actors, which, far from the usual genre clichés, tells of the slow farewell to childhood and, above all, impresses with its coherent staging."
“ The Treasure of the White Falcons is an exciting adventure film that tells a lot about friendship, first love, farewell and the end of childhood. Made conventionally, it impresses above all with the good mix of action-packed with calm and sensitive scenes as well as the authentic play of the child actors, [...] [they] act very naturally and thus offer a broad area of identification.
