Christian Zübert (born August 27, 1973 in Würzburg ) is a German screenwriter and film director .

biography

Zübert studied German for six semesters at the University of Würzburg for a master's degree , which, in his own words, did not significantly prepare him for his current job.

After completing his studies, Zübert initially worked as a screenwriter, primarily in the television sector, and since 1997 has also worked on a number of screenplays for cinema and television productions, such as girls, girls and solo albums . Film producer and director Sönke Wortmann persuaded him to direct the film Lammbock for the first time, after he had previously written the scenario for the successful feature film. So he quickly became known to a larger audience. His second directorial work was the ProSieben film Real Men? , for which he also wrote the script.

In 2004 he directed the children's and youth film The Treasure of the White Falcons . Zübert's second film did not attract as many viewers to the cinema as his first film, but it mostly received very good reviews and was awarded various prizes.

After several award-winning television works, he returned to the big screen in October 2011 with the three-quarter moon . The tragic comedy brought almost 400,000 viewers to the cinema and was nominated for the German Film Prize as best feature film. Zübert also received the Bavarian Film Prize for the script. In the same year, Christian Zübert was awarded the Adolf Grimme Prize, which was awarded to him as a screenwriter for Neue Vahr Süd and as a director for the BR crime scene Never Be Free Again .

In 2013 he directed the tragic comedy Out and Away , produced by Florian Gallenberger and Benjamin Herrmann , with Florian David Fitz , Julia Koschitz , Jürgen Vogel , Miriam Stein and Hannelore Elsner in the leading roles. The film had over 300,000 visitors.

In 2015, Zübert was invited to the Toronto International Film Festival for the second year in a row with his German-Greek drama Ein Atem .
