Florian Gallenberger
Florian Gallenberger (* 1972 in Munich ) is a German film director , screenwriter and film producer . In 2001 he won an Oscar in the short film category for his graduation film, Quierosser .
Life
After graduating from the Feodor-Lynen-Gymnasium in Planegg , Gallenberger first studied philosophy , psychology and Russian before he began studying at the Munich University of Television and Film in 1992 . During his studies he made various films, including the documentary The Skladanowsky Brothers in collaboration with Wim Wenders . This film won the Montreal award for best documentary. In 2001, Gallenberger received an Academy Award in the Best Short Film category for Quieroser , a film that deals with the struggle for survival of street children in the metropolis of Mexico City
In 2004 he shot his first full-length feature film, Shadows of Time , which won the Bavarian Film Prize for “best debut film” and “best camera”. In addition, Schatten der Zeit was nominated for two German Film Awards in 2006 and was successful as best film at the International Festival of Love Films in Mons (Belgium).
In 2009, Gallenberger received a nomination for the German Film Prize as Best Director for the international feature film John Rabe , shot in China and produced by Mischa Hofmann , Benjamin Herrmann and Jan Mojto , while the film was awarded the Gold Film Prize. Gallenberger worked on this film for almost four years, including about two years in China.
In 2013 Gallenberger produced the tragic comedy Out and Away with Benjamin Herrmann, directed by Christian Zübert , with Florian David Fitz , Julia Koschitz , Jürgen Vogel , Miriam Stein and Hannelore Elsner in the leading roles. His cinema thriller Colonia Dignidad - There is no turning back with Emma Watson and Daniel Brühl in the leading roles combines the historical background of Colonia Dignidad with a fictional story and was awarded the Bavarian Film Prize for Best Film and nominated for 5 German Film Awards. In 2018, the comedy won't get greener, said the gardener, and flew off to the cinemas, with Elmar Wepper and Emma Bading in the leading roles.
Florian Gallenberger was one of the founding members of the German Film Academy in 2003 . In December 2011 he was appointed honorary professor by the University of Television and Film Munich . He is a member of the international association for the gifted “ Mensa ”.

Literary processing
In Fridolin Schley's autobiographical story, Schöner Ball (published in Swimming Pool Summer , Verlag CH Beck 2003), Schley's nameless literary alter ego describes the final of the Gautingen Junior Tennis Championships from around 1992. Schley's figure wins the decisive game against Florian Gallenberger, but is consumed at the same time after Gallenberger's handsome, generous friend Martina.
