Lammbock - Alles in Handarbeit is a German comedy film from 2001 by Christian Zübert .

action

The friends Stefan and Kai operate in Würzburg under the name Lammbock a pizza - delivery service . Their specialty is the pizza gourmet , in which cannabis products from their own cultivation are supplied in a small aluminum pack under the middle slice of salami . Men camp outside their door, one of whom has Tourette's syndrome . While Kai is satisfied with his life, Stefan, the son of a judge and shortly before the end of his law degree , has doubts about his lifestyle. The film shows this in several episodes, each of which is introduced with subtitles.

Business is going well until Stefan and Kai discover that their hemp plantation is infested with aphids . The stoner Achim offers advice in a specialist shop . However, he is an undercover drug investigator, and when they take him to the plantation, it comes to a catastrophe: Achim collapses because of the consumption of collected mushrooms and becomes with a hunter who wanted to confront Stefan and Kai and the harvested cannabis stowed in the trunk. You narrowly escape a police check and can get rid of the hunter, but Achim comes to consciousness and reveals himself as a police officer. Only with the help of Stefan's father, who is friends with Achim's trainer, they escape criminal consequences.

Stefan's girlfriend Gina is also moving away for a semester abroad while his ex-girlfriend Jenny is having a party. Stefan is considering reviving his relationship with Jenny and after a party he sexually assaults a sleeping woman who he takes to be Jenny, but in the morning light turns out to be his sister Laura. She had previously cheated on her friend Tim and then left him to hook up with Kai.

Kai lives his life as before, while Stefan concentrates on his exam. In the exam, however, Stefan also changes his mind, hands in his work unfinished and thus decides for a life beyond the conventions of which he has long dreamed (his ex-girlfriend had previously reminded him in a scene that he actually wanted to open a beach bar on a Caribbean island to express their amazement at his decision to study law). Kai is already waiting for him in front of the university with a pizza gourmet . Stefan tells him that he has decided to break off his old life and realize his dream of becoming a beach café owner in the south. Kai takes Stefan to the airport and during the trip they both smoke one last joint .

Trivia

  • Christian Zübert was heavily influenced by the directors Quentin Tarantino and Kevin Smith . The characters Frank and Schöngeist are very similar to the characters Jay and Silent Bob from the works of Kevin Smith. Mention is made of the character Mr. Pink from Reservoir Dogs (as Kai's "subtly cool" synonym for a possible HIV test); The film posters for Pulp Fiction and From Dusk Till Dawn are clearly visible - all works that Tarantino directed or wrote.
  • Frank wears the (real) training jacket of the VfL Volkach football club , this fact is taken up again in the second part.
  • Mehmet Scholl appears several times in the film in stories, in poster form and as a video game character.
  • The pizzeria as the original location is in the backyard at Siegburger Straße 112 in Cologne .
  • At the beginning of the film, Stefan drives his car over the Alte Mainbrücke , although this has only been accessible to pedestrians since 1992.
  • The song towards the end of the film after Stefan's father's confession is called Buenas Tardes Amigo and is from the band Ween .
  • The university at the end of the film is the "Old University", which today houses the TH Köln and is located on Claudiusstrasse in the southern part of Cologne .
  • According to Christian Zübert, the name “Lammbock” is said to have originated from a popular pizza express in Würzburg called “Lambo”. A friend of his couldn't pronounce the name correctly when he was high on cannabis. He would always say "ram".
  • The siblings Christof and Sabine Wackernagel embody the police trainer and the saleswoman in the garden center in the film.
  • As you can see in the background, the garden shop is Dinger's garden center in Cologne.
  • In the film Golden Times , Lucas Gregorowicz plays a lawyer named Stefan, and the same Caribbean posters hang in his apartment as in the film Lammbock.

Reviews

"Laconic provincial comedy in the style of American slacker films, which despite good acting performances is not very convincing, because the debut film, which is heavy on dialogue, relates a lot to other films, but not to any tangible reality."

“Exactly like" Bang Boom Bang "and with a lot of Franconian local color, Zübert's hemp work is one of the small discoveries of this year's German film. 4 of 5 points "

“As silly as drunk boys are. [...] The absurd and laconic dialogues compensate for the dry plot and rough sleazy scenes. Thumbs up! "

“Christian Zübert's directorial debut [...] is a wonderful little comedy about stoners. The film is not staged particularly skillfully, but it does come up with a good comedy of situations and words. Thanks to another brilliant Moritz Bleibtreu, this is extremely amusing fun. "

continuation

In the summer of 2016, filming began for the successor, which bears the title Lommbock . In Lommbock , as in Lammbock, Lucas Gregorowicz and Moritz Bleibtreu will play again. The cinema release in Germany was March 23, 2017.
