Götz Argus

Götz Argus (born April 6, 1961 in Greiz , GDR ; † March 27, 2019 in Mossautal ( Odenwald )) was a German actor .

Career

After training as a cabinet maker , he studied acting at the “Hans Otto” theater school in Leipzig.

After positions at the Neuen Schauspiel Leipzig , the Volksbühne Berlin , the Schauspiel Frankfurt , the Mousonturm Frankfurt , the Schauspielhaus Graz , the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel and the Staatstheater Stuttgart , he was a permanent member of the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus ensemble from 1996 to 2006 under Anna Badora , with whom he later moved to Graz again. From 2003 he was an ensemble member of the Japanese "Suzuki Company of Toga". Since 2010 he has been a permanent guest at the "Attis Teatro Athens" and at festivals in Greece, Poland, Finland and Japan. Götz Argus could also be seen on opera stages, including in Madrid, Bilbao and at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein . From 2011 to 2018 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Residence Theater with Martin Kušej . He was seen in productions by Dimiter Gotscheff , Martin Kušej and Michael Thalheimer, among others. And he shaped the Munich Castorf Evenings: He played in Frank Castorf's productions Kasimir und Karoline , Reise ans Ende der Nacht , Baal and in The Adventures of the Good Soldier Švejk in the World War .

Argus has also made regular appearances in film and television. He played the prison inmate Paul Botz in the RTL TV series Der Knastarzt (2014) and was seen in the film production Der Sandmann (1995) alongside Götz George .

He died at the age of 57 on March 27, 2019 after a long illness in his house in Mossautal in the Odenwald.
