The 15th Children's Film & TV Festival " Goldener Spatz " took place from May 8th to May 16th 2007. Gera hosted it from May 8th to 11th, and for the third time Erfurt was the venue for the largest German festival for children's films and children's television programs from May 12th to 16th. From 2008 the film week will no longer take place every two years, but annually.

During the week there were a total of 62 entries in the competition, which competed for prizes in various categories. Traditionally, a children's jury made up of a total of 32 jurors decided on the main prizes, the “Golden Spatzen”. In addition to the best cinema / television films, animations, short films / series, information / documentaries and entertainment programs, mini-contributions, the actors were also honored. In addition, there were two smaller children's juries, each consisting of five jurors, which awarded the “Web Spatz” for the best children's website on the Internet and the “Onlinespiel Spatz” for the best online game. In addition to the children's jury, there were also specialist juries who named award winners in five other categories.

The event opened with the animation film Freilandeier by Daniel Faigle and Detlev Buck's feature film Hands Off Mississippi .
