Golden Sparrow 2018

The 26th German Children's Media Festival Goldener Spatz took place from June 10th to 16th, 2018 in Gera and Erfurt . For the first time, an audience award was given for the best youth film.

A total of 50 film and television programs ran in the festival program; 38 of them in competition. The Golden Spatzen were awarded in the five categories of cinema / television film, short film, series, information / documentation and entertainment. In addition, a Golden Sparrow was awarded for the best presentation. Eight offers were nominated for the Golden Sparrow in the website / app category.

Four productions celebrated their premiere in the cinema / TV competition: The war and me : Anton , 199 little heroes: Mongolia, Does getting old hurt? and Captain Sharky . 

During the seven days of the event, around 19,000 visitors came to the festival, 650 of whom were accredited industry representatives - a record. 22 film screenings were sold out. The film guests included u. a .: Uwe Ochsenknecht , Ralph Caspers , Clarissa Corrêa da Silva , Petra Schmidt-Schaller , Anton Spieker , Walter Sittler , Sigrid Klausmann , Andreas Dresen and many more. A special feature was the inclusive presentation of the film The Little Witch . For the first time, hearing and visually impaired children were able to take part in a film screening without barriers using a sign interpreter and live audio description.
