The national festival Goldener Spatz 1981 for children's films of the GDR in cinema and television took place from February 6th to February 13th 1981 in Gera and was the second edition of the children's film festival Goldener Spatz , which had its premiere in 1979.

Course of the festival

The competition ran 26 animated films , 18 documentaries and articles from television journalism, 14 feature films and television games . The 25 competition events in the Panorama Palace and the Miners' Culture House, as well as the festival programs in the Metropol Theater, were attended by around 25,000 children. In addition there were 7,500 children at the repeat events in Jena and around 1,000 children who took part in the 59 audience discussions about the competition films.

In addition to the many children, 250 trade visitors took part in the festival, as well as 80 representatives from the pioneer film clubs of the GDR . Based on the Gera technical discussions, the Association of Film and TV Creators of the GDR published a workbook on children's films in its “Podium and Talk” series (publisher: Walter Beck ). In addition, electronic recordings could be shown for the first time.
