The 3rd national festival “Goldener Spatz” for children's films from the GDR in cinema and television took place from February 4 to February 11, 1983 in Gera . It was the third edition of the children's film festival Goldener Spatz , which first took place in 1979 .

Under the direction of President Beate Hanspach , the festival was opened with the film The Shots of Noah's Ark , directed by Egon Schlegel . The opening film was part of the selected competition program consisting of 19 animated films , 16 documentaries and articles from television journalism, 16 feature films and television plays .

The competition events took place in the Panorama Palace and the Miners Culture House. The Metropol Theater and the Gera House of Culture were used for the other festival contributions and the Family Film Festival. The guest of honor at the Family Film Festival was the actor Gojko Mitić . A total of 34,962 children and 325 specialist guests attended the events. In municipalities in the region, such as B. Zeulenroda , some of the events were then repeated again. An additional 3,637 children came to these events.

Prizes of the jury of the young audience

For the first time, the 11-member jury of the young audience from Gera and the surrounding area awarded the prize for the best feature film / television play to three of the 16 films in this category.
