description

After the German Children's Film & Television Festival “Goldener Spatz” could only take place under difficult financial and organizational conditions in 1991, the German Children's Media Foundation Goldener Spatz was founded on March 23, 1993 to ensure that the festival continued safely. The foundation has been the sponsor of the festival ever since. The founding donors are the MDR (as a representative of ARD ), ZDF , RTL and the city of Gera. The founding commissioner of the foundation was the producer Elke Ried , who was also the festival director.

The competition program was divided into six categories: cinema and television films, short fiction films, series / series, documentation / magazine, entertainment / magazine and animation. In addition to the competition films, an information program consisting of 15 other German productions was also shown. In addition, seven international children's films (e.g. Mighty Ducks - Das Superteam and Kalle Stropp and his friend Boll ) had their preview premieres at the festival.

The well-known GDR director and former festival director Rolf Losansky was honored in a retrospective . In this five of his children's films were shown.

The children's jury consisted of 30 boys and girls who traveled to Gera for the first time from all over Germany for the film viewing and award ceremony. The expert jury was made up of experts from the media industry (including Carmen Blazejewski , Tilmann P. Gangloff and Margit Voss ).

The eighth edition of the German Children's Film & Television Festival "Goldener Spatz" ended with the traditional family film festival.
