Käpt'n Sharky is a series of children's books and radio plays published by Coppenrath Verlag . The illustrations are by Silvio Neuendorf and the texts by Jutta Langreuter . Captain Sharky has been translated into more than eleven languages. So far, twelve stories have been published as a book and radio play. Emergence

Sharky is the main character in the series. He's the pirate captain on his ship . Friendship and pirate honor count for him. He avoids alcohol and prefers to drink water, which he calls Gluglu. Michi is Captain Sharky's best friend. He is boarded and kidnapped by Sharky on his boat. A friendship develops from this and he becomes part of the team. The PiRatte is a sailor and ship's cook on Captain Sharky's ship. She is somewhat hard of hearing, which often leads to misunderstandings and confusion if she misunderstood Captain Sharky's commands. It is mostly called just a rat . It wears its own little pirate flag on its tail. Coco the Parrot is a simple crew member. He usually sits on the lookout and looks out. Fips the monkey and Isi the turtle are the other crew members. Sepio is a lonely sea monster who is considered dangerous by everyone. When Captain Sharky and his team find out that it is actually lovely and just looking for someone to play with, they become friends. Old Bill is a pirate who is hunting for prey with his pirate crew on his three- master. Captain Sharky keeps getting in his way. Another of Sharky's opponents is the Admiral . He is a pirate hunter who is on the hunt for Captain Sharky and other pirates with his men, the red coats. His ship is a large frigate . When he is aroused, he often interchanges the initial letters ("Alle kann an die Manonen!"). The adjutant is his right-hand man.

In addition to the rat's hearing impairment, which repeatedly causes confusion and entanglement, a recurring motif is Captain Sharky's drinking ritual. Captain Sharky avoids alcohol and only drinks water. He thinks rum is unsuitable for a captain, as one can no longer think clearly and decide when drunk.

"Because if you get drunk even once, the ship may soon have sunk."

- Captain Sharky : Gluglu song

The drinking ritual appears at least once in every story. The rat serves the water called Gluglu. The cups are lifted and emptied in one go. Then the cups are slammed onto the table, one hand is wiped over the mouth and one exhales with a sigh “Huh!”.

action

Captain Sharky and the secret of Treasure Island

Captain Sharky captures Michi's boat and takes him prisoner. But both get closer and quickly become friends. They find a treasure map in a message in a bottle and set off to find the treasure. When you arrive on Treasure Island, you will find the place where the treasure should be. However, a turtle has built its nest over the treasure. In order not to damage it, the two do without the treasure. However, Michi takes a turtle egg from which Isi, the turtle, hatches later.

Captain Sharky and the sea monster

When Captain Sharky and his crew go ashore to exchange caught fish for supplies, Michi hears a tavern report about a sea monster in a rocky bay. Sharky gets into an argument with old Bill, but the landlord prevents a fight. Captain Sharky and his crew continue their journey and drive through the said rocky bay. Here they meet Sepio, the sea monster. Contrary to the description of old Bill, however, it is not evil and dangerous, just lonely and looking for someone to play with. Sepio befriends Captain Sharky and his crew when they suddenly notice old Bill trying to attack Captain Sharky's ship. Sepio comes to the rescue and chases away the attackers.

Captain Sharky and Prison Island

Captain Sharky went ashore on pirate island to replenish supplies on his ship. When the crew got back to the ship, the rat noticed that there was still a lack of salt . Michi goes back to get some more. He is captured and kidnapped by old Bill. Bill lets Sharky know that he kidnapped Michi and demands a ransom for his release. Captain Sharky chases old Bill's ship, but when they find it and board it, they find it empty and damaged. Only old Bill is on board and says that the admiral with his redcoats boarded his ship and captured his entire crew. They were taken to prison island together with Michi. Sharky sets off for prison island and finds both Michi and old Bill's pirates on the island. He can free them with a diversion. They sabotage the cannons on the admiral's frigate with algae slime and thus escape. Arriving on the ship, Sharky Fips discovers the little monkey Michi met on prison island.

Captain Sharky adventure in the rock cave

Captain Sharky's ship is attacked by the admiral and his redcoats with their frigate. To escape them, they board the ship and destroy the frigate's steering wheel. They free a boy whom the admiral has captured before they escape. Back on Captain Sharky's ship, the boy introduces himself as Li, the son of a Chinese pirate. The admiral captured him. Captain Sharky asks Sepio to find Li's father. In the meantime the admiral has got his frigate afloat again and is on the heels of Captain Sharky again. The pirates flee and hide in a rock cave whose entrance is too narrow for the frigate. When the tide comes in, they can no longer come out of the cave against the current. Fortunately, Sepio has now found Li's father and brought him here. Together they can pull Captain Sharky's ship out of the cave and free it.

Captain Sharky and the giant octopus

Captain Sharky's ship gets caught in a storm. As they emerge from the storm, they discover a shipwreck that Captain Sharky identifies as the Esperanza , which is said to have sunk with its Captain Rodriguez over 300 years ago. Captain Sharky dives down to the wreck with Michi. Here they discover a treasure chest that they want to recover. However, you are attacked by a giant octopus who considers the wreck to be his property. This grabbed Michi. Captain Sharky promises to forego the treasure, and the octopus releases Michi. While the two are returning to their ship, the giant octopus disappears into the depths with its wreck in tow.

Captain Sharky: Shipwreck off the desert island

Captain Sharky and his crew are fleeing from old Bill. They drive their ship onto a reef near a lonely island, so that it leaks . The crew leaves the ship and lands on the island. When they look around, they notice that the ship has disappeared. While the team is discussing how to proceed, they meet a girl who lives on the island. You walk through the jungle and come to the village where the girl lives. Here they find out that the villagers have found and recovered their ship. With the help of the villagers, the ship is repaired, and Captain Sharky and his crew set off again.

Captain Sharky saves the little whale

Captain Sharky and his crew are alerted by Sepio the sea monster: The whaler Captain Drax has caught a baby whale and uses it as bait to lure its parents and kill them. Immediately the crew set off for the North Sea, where Drax is lying in wait for the Whale parents. They discover the whaler's ship and Sharky and Michi row over to the whaling ship under cover of the fog to free the whale baby from the net in which it is swimming. They are discovered, and Sharky climbs onto the whaling ship to distract the alarmed crew from Michi, who in the meantime can free the baby whale. After a verbal argument with Captain Drax, Sharky cuts his belt, so Drax's pants slip down and Sharky can escape in the turmoil. In the fog, Sharky Sepio hangs a ship's lantern, so that Drax follows the sea monster and ends up shipwrecked on an iceberg. Sharky escapes with his ship and the whalers save themselves on their lifeboats while the whaling ship sinks.

Captain Sharky with the Vikings

Sharky and his crew return to Turtle Island and dig up the treasure they left there out of consideration for the turtle eggs. You will find a box of silver coins. While they are celebrating on the ship, a current drifts it far north. The crew goes ashore in a quiet bay, where they meet the Viking brothers Leif and Bjarni. They are impressed by Sharky and invite him and his team to their home. Sharky and his team help the Vikings to mend a makeshift hole in the wall of the house. In the next few days they go on many trips. On a trip on the brothers' Viking ship, they meet Olof, the two worst enemy. However, you can ram its ship and escape. A few days later they are out hunting with Sigurd, Leif and Bjarni's father. When a storm approaches, they want to turn back and notice that Olof wants to go ashore with two ships to attack the Viking family. While Sharky goes off with the rat to get the pirate ship, Michi and Sigurd can put a Viking ship to flight by casting terrible shadows in the flashlight. Olof then attacks the ship of the two Viking brothers who have just returned from fishing. During the fight, Sharky, who has meanwhile arrived with his pirate ship, manages to cut the anchor line of Olof's ship, so that it drifts off and he has to let go of the brothers. Because the Vikings' makeshift house wall was finally destroyed during the thunderstorm, Sharky and his crew leave the silver treasure from Turtle Island to the Vikings to pay for a proper repair. Back on the ship, the rat remembers that she had sewn her share of the treasure into her clothes, so that the crew still has some of the treasure.

Captain Sharky and the sultan's dagger

Sharky and his friends are out and about on the Arabian coast. While trying to ambush a junk to get Arabic spices for her cook, the rat, they are overwhelmed by the soldiers of Sheikh Salam al Raschid, who owns the junk. The sheikh is impressed by the courage and honesty of the pirate friends and asks them to save his son Fadi. This was injured on the border to the area of the long enemy Sultan Suleiman and is now said to be a prisoner with him. The Sheikh gives Sharky a valuable dagger, which he should give to the Sultan in exchange for his son. The sheikh and his men are well-disposed towards Sharky, only the court marshal Masur seems to distrust them. Sharky and his friends set sail, but after a short time they are ambushed by an Arab ship. The strange pirates come on board, but disappear almost immediately without a fight. They take the sheikh's dagger with them. Sharky can calm his friends down, however. Because the sheikh expected traitors at his court, the dagger was only a dummy. Sharky secretly received the real dagger and hid it well. Suddenly the rat finds a bottle floating in the sea. This hides a genie in a bottle called Sufi, who promises Sharky to grant three wishes. First of all, Sharky wants a magic carpet that will bring her safely to the Sultan and back again. When he arrives at the Sultan's, it turns out that he has taken in the Sheikh's son as a guest and nursed him back to health, as he has grown very fond of him. Since no one can remember the reason for the long war, the Sultan offers the Sheikh to make peace. Sharky's men fly back to the Sheikh on the carpet to bring him Fadi and deliver the peace offer. Since the rat got nauseous on the outward flight, Sharky uses his second wish with the genie to ensure that the rat should not get nauseous during the flight. The pirates bring Fadi to his father, who happily accepts the sultan's offer of peace. Sharky and his pirate friends set sail again, and Sharky wishes as the last thing that the genie in a bottle should be free and no longer have to serve anyone.
