Lars-Gunnar Lotz (born January 15, 1982 in Bad Ischl , Austria ) is a German film director , screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Lotz grew up in the Rhineland . After graduating from high school, he completed internships at several television broadcasters and production companies in Cologne. In 2003 he began studying visual communication at the Kassel Art Academy, followed in 2005 by studying directing at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy . Inspired by his sister, who has Down syndrome , he wrote the screenplay “Lisanne” about life as a person with a disability, and in 2005 he produced and directed his first short film as a producer and director . In 2007 he took part in an exchange program at the La fémis film school in Paris. He also received a scholarship to the Hollywood Masterclass at the University of California in Los Angeles.

  • 2005 first prize at the International Youth Film Festival Yerevan
  • 2006 "Silver Griffin" for the best short film at the Italian Giffoni Film Festival
  • 2006 Honorary Diploma from the Iranian Roshd Film Festival
  • 2007 Goldener Spatz , jury award for the best short film.

He won for his almost 60-minute long feature film “For Miriam”, which premiered in the Perspektive Deutsches Kino at the 59th Berlinale

  • 2009 the award for best film at the French film festival Aubagne
  • 2009 the advancement award of the Baden-Württemberg film industry at the Filmschau Baden-Württemberg (best film)
  • The leading actress Franziska Petri was awarded as Best Actress in the Perspektive Deutsches Kino, Berlinale 2009, for her role as Karen. She was also named Best Actress at the Aubagne Film Festival and in Valencia.

His debut feature film and graduation film at the film academy, “It's always the others to blame”, was awarded the Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award in 2012 in the “Best Director” category. Lotz also received three main prizes at the Emden-Norderney International Film Festival, including the Bernhard Wicki Prize.
