Short Film Festival Hamburg
The Short Film Festival Hamburg (KFFH) is an event of the Kurzfilm Agentur Hamburg e. V. (KFA). It was founded in 1985 as a NoBudget short film festival, has had its current name since 1994 and takes place annually in June. Together with the KFA, the aim of the IKFF is to spread the short film as an independent art form and it also offers an international forum (= events and locations) to enable contacts between artists, producers, exploiters and the public.
Current short films, mostly by independent filmmakers, are shown in several international, national and local competitions . In addition, special programs will be presented that direct a closer look at selected topics. They range from social or aesthetic observations to work shows and regional focuses. There are also industry seminars, workshops, information events, open-air screenings, film night walks ( A Wall is a Screen ) and dance nights in the festival's own club.
A sub-project of the Kurzfilm Agentur Hamburg e. V., the more than 6,000 competition entries of the festival feed the KFA archive, which records the film-related information in address and film databases and makes it available for use for research purposes.
