Children's and Youth Film Center

The German Children and Youth Film Center (KJF) was founded in 1977. It is based in Remscheid and belongs to the Academy of Cultural Education of the Federal Government and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . The center is financed by the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth .

A board of trustees made up of representatives from the federal and state governments, universities and associations is responsible for the technical supervision. Chairman is Dr. Werner C. Barg .

The KJF works with a large number of institutions, associations and ministries. On behalf of the BMFSFJ, the KJF organizes the nationwide competitions

In addition, the KJF represents the Federal Republic of Germany in international youth film committees.

One of the central tasks of the KJF is recommendation work, for example in the form of the online magazine Kinofilmwelt and the children's film world portal . Current films for children and young people are presented and recommended here. The recommendations are made from an educational and target group-specific point of view and supplement the approvals by the FSK.
