Academy of Cultural Education of the Federal Government and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia
The Academy of Cultural Education of the Federal Government and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (until 2016 Akademie Remscheid ) is the federal and state central institute for cultural youth education in Germany. It is supported by a non-profit association in which the practical fields of cultural education and the promotion of children and young people are represented.
It is located in the Remscheid district of Küppelstein .
History and mission
The mandate and goal is the culture and media education qualification of specialists in youth, educational and cultural work, the advice of institutions and organizations as well as the development of new practical models. In 1958 the Remscheid Academy was opened. In 2016 it was renamed the Academy of Cultural Education of the Federal Government and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia .
It is a provider of on-the-job training, professional qualifications, workshop courses and seminars in the field of cultural education. The academy organizes international conferences, an annual play market and a storytelling festival.
The academy is funded by the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth and the Ministry for Children, Family, Refugees and Integration of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . The director of the academy is Susanne Keuchel , who is also the chairwoman of the Institute for Education and Culture eV The academy is the seat or legal entity of the film center for children and young people in Germany, the department for cultural education in schools and youth work in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Bundesvereinigung Kulturelle Kinder- und Jugendbildung e. V., the Institute for Education and Culture eV, the German Federal Association of Dance e. V., the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Musik NRW e. V. and the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Tanz NRW e. V.
