Ludwig Palmer

Ludwig Palmer (born October 24, 1856 in Schorndorf ; † September 19, 1931 in Schorndorf) was a German writer.

Born in Schorndorf, Ludwig Palmer developed autodidactically from an iron worker with elementary school education to the author of poems and prose pieces.

He maintained contact and friendships with well-known writers of his time, such as Isolde Kurz , Hermann Hesse , Christian Wagner and Felix Dahn as well as the then well-known dialect authors Martin Lang and August Reiff .

Palmer was first a member of the SPD and later the USPD .

Despite his commitment to the cause of the working class, his literary work brought him friendship with entrepreneurs and the bourgeois married Princess Pauline of Württemberg, who also supported the low-income worker economically.

He has published over 350 poems in printed form, as well as stories, novellas and comedy texts. He also worked as a musician and for eight years as a choir director at the Steinenberg Music Association.
