action

Bella Jung is recently divorced, but still lives with her ex-husband Martin and her new boyfriend Sebastian in a shared apartment. Her sister Ines can't understand this, but Bella is of the opinion that she can't just let Martin down in his crisis without a job and without money, after all they were happy for many years and have an almost adult daughter together. Sebastian is less lenient, he'd rather be alone with Bella today than tomorrow, but Martin doesn't think to move out anytime soon. Just as Bella Martin is about to ask Martin to finally find her own apartment, two friends of theirs have a fatal accident. So this dramatic event gets everyone's attention and the problems of Bella's flat share are pushed into the background again. In addition, their friends “leave” their two-year-old child to them. According to the will, they, as the godparents, should have custody of Tom. Bella faces this new responsibility without discussion, which now means, however, that she and Martin have to take on the upbringing. The youth welfare office also sees it that way, but reserves the right to put the boys through their paces to make sure that Tom can grow up well protected with them. Should there be any doubt about this in the near future, the child will be given to a more suitable family.

Bella has just started her own business and opened the massage studio "Bellas Oase". Since Martin is desperately looking for a new job and is on the road during the day, Bella takes the boy into the business from time to time, after which Martin takes care of Tom and cooks for the evening when Bella comes home. There is hardly any space left for Sebastian in Bella's life. To be alone with her, he almost has to kidnap her. Bella understands him, but at the moment she has no other solution than to come to terms with her ex-husband and play the "ideal family" to the youth welfare office. Sebastian confronts Martin with the fact that he and Bella are a couple and by no means “just” good friends. So Martin pulls the ripcord, gives up the fight for his wife and moves out. Sebastian realizes that he has gone too far and accepts Bella's decision to be there primarily for the child. Since he pissed off Martin, he now has to take care of Tom when Bella is busy in her studio. Things have only been moderate there since it opened and there are no customers. Bella doesn't seem to be working out well at the moment, not only in business, but also privately: Sebastian is annoyed and moves out, Martin has a job offer in Munich and her daughter Lena, who unexpectedly came back from Australia, just married, doesn't feel welcome with her husband and wants to part with him again after four weeks of marriage. Bella feels responsible even for her sister Ines' marital crisis.

The youth welfare office hearing is shortly and Bella is worlds away from an ideal family. So, without further ado, she goes on the offensive and explains to the authorities that, even as a single parent, she can look after a child, like thousands of other mothers. This argument cannot be contradicted and so Bella receives official custody of Tom.

Reviews

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv rated: “The zigzag course through the urban retro love life of a woman in her mid-forties continues. In 'Bella Dilemma', Andrea Sawatzki's heroine has grown up. Suddenly she has to raise another child. What that means for your choice of partner is shown in the third part of the ZDF “Bella” series in the best everyday comedy fashion - with lots of humor, an excellent ensemble, lively staged, lively cut. Good entertainment television! "

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm gave the best rating (thumbs up) and said: "Great characters, sometimes touching, sometimes funny."

At faz.net , Laura Gispert judged: “You can feel that the director Vivian Naefe and the leading actress Andrea Sawatzki approach this women's story with enthusiasm. The writers and directors always go so far with their trials and tribulations that the comedy succeeds and does not become a joke. It shouldn't be the last time that we get to see something from this Bella. "
