The German-born police psychologist Cathrin Blake lost her footing after the disappearance of her husband without a trace and became an alcoholic. She lives with her grown son, who like his father has become a policeman. After she was able to overcome her addiction, she returned to her job, but no longer with the police.

"When staging the [...] 'Ireland crime novels' [...] [they] evidently followed the straightforward nature of the BBC crime novels. The image design is emphatically sober, the atmosphere cool, the outdoor shots are often kept in gray, which of course fits the joyless plot; after all, the interior shots exude a certain homeliness. A special aesthetic stylistic device is the handling of the sharpness: In certain settings [the camera] has ensured that large parts of the image are out of focus so that the view is automatically focused on a certain detail in the center or on the edge; these scenes are also characterized by a special color scheme. ”“ Another special feature is the age of the main character: for actresses over fifty, leading roles in television films are becoming increasingly rare. Theoretically, this story could have been told with a younger protagonist; all the better that the ARD subsidiary Degeto chose a woman with a lot of life experience. "
