The Usedom-Krimi is a crime film series with Katrin Sass in the role of the former public prosecutor Karin Lossow. She is also the mother of the Chief Inspector Julia Thiel, embodied by Lisa Maria Potthoff . The series has been in production since 2014 and is broadcast as part of the series “The Thursday Crime in the First ”. In the sixth film in the Winter Light series , Lisa Maria Potthoff leaves the series, she falls victim to a murder in her role. Her successor is the Chief Inspector Ellen Norgaard, played by Rikke Lylloff , a Danish woman who was born on Usedom.

In the first six episodes, a mother and daughter team play the leading roles. Karin Lossow is a former prosecutor. Her daughter, Julia Thiel, works as a chief detective on the Baltic island of Usedom , where her mother also returned after serving a prison sentence. Together, the two women investigate criminal cases that have happened on the island. Their personal relationship is repeatedly put to the test, because Karin Lossow had killed Julia's father years ago in an affect .
