Life

From 1985 until the reunification year 1990, Peter Schneider was at the special school for music in Halle (Saale) . In the period from 2000 to 2002 Schneider worked as an acting student at the Schauspielhaus ChemnitzWith. Torn between the medium of film and the theater, according to his statement, he decided to accept Edgar Reitz's offer after completing his studies , in the six-part Heimat 3 - Chronicle of a turning point as Tillmann Becker a continuous leading role in the storyline Ost to play. The collaboration with Edgar Reitz and the associated shooting time of almost two years were very formative for him, as he himself said. In 2013 the short film group photo , directed by Mareille Klein and starring Peter Schneider, received the Max Ophüls Prize . The jury's statement said, among other things, “... the incredibly differentiated game played by Peter Schneider as father stands out in particular. How he manages to keep the viewer in a fine balance between sympathy and rejection of his character is extraordinary. He masterfully avoids the many possibilities to reveal his figure to simple effects. That and the performance of the young Felicitas Schurig, as well as the rest of the ensemble, are clearly the result of the director's clever acting "

Peter Schneider was portrayed by Volly Tanner and Lene Hoffmann under the title Threatening loneliness in the foreign in the 2014 nonfiction book City Talks from Leipzig published by Gmeiner Verlag .
