Frederick Venus

Frieder Venus (* 1950 in Zittau ) is a German actor and theater director .

Life

After graduating from high school, Frieder Venus initially trained as a mason before he trained as a qualified actor at the Leipzig Theater School from 1971 to 1975 . During his studies he played Mephisto in Urfaust at the Dresden State Theater in a production by Rudolf Donath . He received his first permanent engagement in 1976 at the Landestheater Eisenach , where he staged his own play for the first time in 1978 with Georg Büchner - Traumtanz . In 1980 Venus was temporarily banned from working as a free artist community. In addition to other fixed contracts at the Landestheater Neustrelitz , the New Theater Halle and the Berlin Volksbühne , Venus appeared as guest at numerous other theaters, often in Berlin, for example at the Theater unterm Dach , at the Hackeschen Hoftheater and the Hebbel Theater , and also at the Landestheater Altenburg . Guest contracts led Venus to the Schwedt Theater between 2003 and 2007 , and to the Cottbus State Theater in 2008 and 2009 .

Well-known roles of Venus were besides Mephisto the Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare , Lerse in Götz von Berlichingen by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , the title role in Molière by Michail Bulgakow , Faust in both parts of Goethe's play of the same name or Prospero in Der Sturm from Shakespeare. For his portrayal of Tschu-Jün in Volker Braun's play Great Peace , directed by Peter Sodann at the New Theater in Halle, Venus was awarded the Hans Otto Prize in 1986 .

From 1987 to 1991, Frieder Venus completed training as a director at the Volksbühne in Berlin with Horst Hawemann and subsequently worked on productions by Hawemann. He brought out his own productions in Halle, at the Sophiensælen in Berlin, at the Theater unterm Dach, at the Stadttheater Köpenick and at the State Theaters of Saxony .

Since 1992 Venus has also been teaching acting in the puppetry department at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin . He performed in this section in Halle and the Theater des Lachens in Frankfurt / Oder.

Since the early 1980s, Venus has been shooting for film and television again and again. Bernhard Wicki cast him in 1985 in his film adaptation of the novel Sansibar or the last reason by Alfred Andersch , in 1992 he played in Deutschfieber , the sequel to the film Der Willi-Busch-Report , and in 2008 in the German-American cinema production Der Vorleser . Venus had guest appearances in series such as Die Rosenheim-Cops , SOKO Wismar and Löwenzahn . In 2010 he embodied the character of Johann Wallenberg in 11 episodes in the telenovela Alisa - Follow your heart .
