history

Schwedt Culture House, 1978

Friedrich Heinrich , the last Schwedt margrave , had an operetta theater built in the orangery of Schwedt Castle in the 18th century, which is known far beyond the borders .

With the development of Schwedt into an industrial city, the theater tradition in the city was revived at the end of the 1970s. On the site of the former margrave castle of Schwedt, the Schwedt culture house was built in 1978 , the building of today's Uckermärkische Bühnen. One year later, the theater ensemble, which had previously been based in Prenzlau , moved into the neighboring "Intimate Theater" as the "Theater of the City of Schwedt". The cultural center and theater merged in 1990 in a previously unique constellation to form the Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt.

The range of theater, entertainment and event services is used by around 145,000 spectators and guests every year.

The band Takayo is considered the house band of the Uckermärkische Bühnen.
