Life

At the age of 14 Dressler moved with his parents and his three years older brother Holger to Rinteln in the Weser Uplands . There he joined local beat bands from 1968 to 1973 as a guitarist and singer and performed with them in the Hanover-Hildesheim-Bielefeld area.

Dressler became known when he managed Thomas Gottschalk's film and television projects in the background from 1977 to 1992 . Dressler and Gottschalk designed the computer game show Telespiele on ARD from 1977 to 1981 . At that time, Dressler was the editor in charge of the ARD broadcaster SWF . In 1981 both switched to ZDF . As a permanent editor for Gottschalk, Dressler designed and supervised the curiosity show Na sowas! (1981 to 1987), Wetten, dass ..? (1987 to 1992; from 1981 to 1987, Dressler was editor of Wetten, dass? ... with Frank Elstner as moderator), the radio exhibition shows Zwei in Second and Supertreff on ZDF (both with Günther Jauch as co-moderator) and the four-hour one Live show The big show of the 80s (also with Günther Jauch as co-moderator).

In 1991 Dressler and Gottschalk went to RTL , where they both first designed the weekly evening show Gottschalk and later the first daily late-night show on German television. Because of disagreements about the content of the Gottschalk Late Night with RTL, Dressler ended his collaboration with Gottschalk in 1992. It was not until 2004 that there was another joint production at two Saturday evening shows for ZDF under the title 50 Years of Rock .
