season 1

Alisa and Christian Castellhoff (Chapters 1–240)

At the age of 27, Alisa Lenz made her way from the big city of Berlin to the fictional town of Schönroda in the Harz Mountains to join her adoptive family. She has separated from her boyfriend, who cheated on her with other women and got into debt in her name. In Schönroda she dares a new beginning and meets the love of her life on the way there.

As it soon turns out, Christian Castellhoff, junior boss of Schönroda's largest employer, “Castellhoff Optische Werke”, is already engaged to the head of the legal department of the lens company and the family's lawyer, Ellen Burg. Alisa quickly becomes a thorn in the side of the control-addicted, calculating legal advisor and keeps sensing breaches of trust on the part of her future husband, who has just returned from Canada and now wants to enrich the family business with his innovative ecological ideas that he has collected abroad . However, she keeps the secret of having cheated on him during his two-year absence with his uncle Oskar, whose company goals are more focused on profit than on the environmental factor. She becomes pregnant and has no qualms about wanting to raise Oscar's son with Christian as a cuckoo child. Later, however, she loses the child in a devastating fire accident in the old glass dynasty factory in need of renovation, in which Oskar is not uninvolved.

Alisa gets a permanent job as a precision optician in the company, but has the dream to emulate her deceased father, Hans Himmelreich, and to go into business for herself with the production of her own crystal jewelry. She is particularly gripped by the secret of the rainbow crystal that Hans took with him into the grave. After an intrigue by Oscar, she is accused of being unfaithful to the company, and Christian doesn't stand by her either. From now on she goes her own way and accepts the offer of her maternal friend Liliana Castellhoff to run her own company, "Alisas Himmelreich", with her business experience. Liliana suffers from retrograde amnesia and can only trace her biography back to the point in time when her husband Ludwig, whose first wife died in an accident, discovered her on Gomera. However, both he and Alisa's adoptive parents withhold the motherhood or daughterhood from the two in their own interest, on whose trail they brought a special crystal pendant, of which Hans once made one each for Alisa and Liliana. The deceived find it difficult to forgive their families for having betrayed the right to the truth. In addition, Ellen, who wants to prevent Alisa from being accepted into the Castellhoff family, forges the second maternity test, which should bring final clarity.

Alisa, who is now in a relationship with Paul Hartmann, the family doctor of the Castellhoffs, and Christian get closer again when he divorces Ellen because of an overly fundamental worldview. Both suspect that Ellen and Oskar have been involved in the illegal arms trade for a long time . The last deal fails, Oskar covers his tracks and delivers his accomplice to the knife by forging evidence. To prevent Christian from reporting her, Ellen kidnaps her ex-husband and inadvertently puts his life in danger before she manages to go abroad with all the profits from the arms trade. As if that weren't enough, the terminally ill Ludwig discovered Oskar's involvement in the scandal only a little later. Oskar uses his older brother's brain tumor to cover up having drowned him by hand, which he also secures the inheritance as sole managing director - for the time being. After their wedding, Alisa and Christian leave for their new life in Canada and are parents to a daughter.

season 2

Hanna and Maximilian Castellhoff (Chapters 241–370)

Hanna Sommer, who is coming to Schönroda from Hamburg for a class reunion with her friend Alexandra Franck, learns that the Fischerkrug , the inn run by her father Heinrich Sommer and her grandmother Gitti, is on the verge of ruin. When her father dies of a heart attack shortly afterwards, it is clear to Hanna that she has to help her grandmother, and she and Alexandra take over the fishing jug. Before she came to Schönroda, she met Maximilian Castellhof on La Gomera, whom she later met again by chance. But first he meets Alexandra.

Maximilian's still-wife Maja also appears in Schönroda and hopes that she and Maximilian will find each other again. She receives support from her mother-in-law Edith, who definitely doesn't want Hanna in her family because Edith is hiding a dark secret. Maja does a lot and for a short time she and Maximilian become a couple again. But the relationship does not last long, whereupon Maja and Finn, the son of her and Maximilian, leave Schönroda again.

Hanna has since broken up with Alexandra, because the latter has made common cause with Oskar. After his release from prison, he pushed himself into Edith's and Maximilian's family business, Castell Cuisine , and tried by all means to ruin the fisherman 's jug. He also learns that he is the father of Dana's son David, not Jonas. After the kidnapping of his child, the police are looking for Oskar and Edith hides him in the villa. On his escape, the armed Oscar is struck down by SEK officers and dies of a gunshot wound.

Hanna and Alexandra can reconcile after a while, and she and Maximilian finally get together. Shortly after the engagement, they crown their love with a dream wedding at Lake Schönroda. Soon afterwards they set off for La Gomera and open a joint restaurant there.
