This time they are dealing with threats, an attempted murder and an accomplished murder in the setting of a ballet company.

action

The Leipzig Show Ballet is making a guest appearance in Dresden , in front of the concert hall a stranger pasted the posters over with a sticker "Murder on appearance". On the same evening, at a late night performance in a night bar, Jens, one of the ensemble's dancers, is critically injured by a knife thrower. That same evening, the head of the ballet, Ludwig Lewald, reports the threats. Ehrlicher and Kain begin investigations into the attempted murder. They learn from the girls in the ensemble that Jens is homosexual and was once in a relationship with Ron, a colleague from the ensemble, who is now married to the much older Roswita. Ron looks for Ehrlich late in the evening, he also has a relationship with Frederike, but no longer interested in Jens. Ehrlicher visits Jens in the hospital the next morning, but Ehrlicher cannot give any clues. Lewald has money problems, his dancers are waiting for outstanding fees. He is openly pleased with the publicity that the incidents of the previous evening brought to his ballet. Lewald reports Ehrlicher that he has many enemies; He also admits the financial problems. Ehrlicher also learns that Ron and Jens met as knife throwers.

Meanwhile, Ron has revealed to his wife that he is with Frederike and wants to break up. Lewald, meanwhile, serves up the star of the ensemble, Elaine Morell, for reasons of age and replaces her with the younger Frederike as the lead role, while Elaine has to dance in the second row. Lewald does this because he has a relationship with Frederike. But shortly afterwards Roswita informs him about the relationship between Ron and Frederike, Lewald reacts angrily to the news, and Roswita is also angry with Ron. Meanwhile, a tensioner appears in the girls' shower room, but he runs away when he is discovered. During the rehearsal the next day, a stranger secretly exchanges the water bottles, Frederike drinks from the bottle. Lewald visits during the rehearsal and tells her that he feels betrayed by her because of his relationship with Ron and that she will pay him for it. Shortly afterwards, Frederike falls in front of Ehrlicher and Kain, who join them during the rehearsal. A doctor diagnoses a broken neck, Ron blames Lewald for Frederike's death, while all other ensemble members accuse Ron of failing to keep Frederike.

Cain learns that Elaine was in the lead until a few hours ago. He talks to Elaine and learns the circumstances about her disembarkation. Lewald speaks more honestly about his relationship with Frederike, he admits it, but says that Ron was no danger to him because he falls in love anew every week and is financially dependent on Roswita. Elaine declines the main role, although Lewald gives her knees to return. At that moment I received another phone call in which a stranger threatened murder if the ensemble's “piggy” show was not canceled. Ehrlicher learns from the coroner that immediately before her accident, Frederike was immobilized with a beta-blocker that was administered to her using a water bottle, which caused the fatal accident. In the evening, Cain can spot the knife thrower in the night bar, he can catch him after a chase. This admits the fact that he was once with Jens and felt he and Ron exploited and betrayed himself. According to his statement, he didn't want to kill him, it was just a warning. Ehrlicher and Kain find out that it is the illegitimate son of Ludwig Lewald and that he suffers from autism. Elaine is visited by a crazy suitor who was the caller, but he appears harmless. In the evening, Ron Ehrlicher visits again. Honestly tells him that he does not belong to the circle of suspects. On a video of the rehearsal, Cain and Ehrlicher see Frederike's water bottle being exchanged by an unknown person, of whom they only see the hand.

Meanwhile, Cain discovers that the stickers that read "Murder on the scene" were written by Lewald's office computer, proving that he was behind the threats against his ensemble. In addition, Cain can find the tensioner, it is a stage helper who says who has exchanged the water bottles. It is Rosa, the make-up artist and friend of Elaine, who found the disembarkation of Elaine unjust and therefore wanted to provoke an accident from Frederike. But she didn't want to kill Frederike. Honest and Cain doubt Rosa's guilt. Lewald now honestly admits that he initiated the threats himself in order to get publicity and thus save the ensemble. He also admits that he hired his son as a knife thrower, but he didn't want to meet Jens, his son should hit the poster on the stage to make the publicity even more effective. The premiere takes place on stage, Elaine previously exchanged her own water bottles herself in order to take beta blockers herself and thus divert suspicion from herself and Rosa. When she doesn't feel any effect, she is so perplexed that she has to break off the performance. Ehrlicher and Kain come on stage, but explain to her that they had exchanged the bottles again. Elaine confesses and asks that Rosa be released. She wanted to make Frederike weak and unable to dance. She did not want the fatal accident.
