Death plays with is a television film from the crime series Tatort . The contribution produced by Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk was first broadcast on July 27, 1997 in the Das Erste program . It's about the crime scene episode 366. For Ehrlicher and Kain , played by Peter Sodann and Bernd Michael Lade , their 15th joint case deals with multiple murders and the consequences of rape.

action

Dirk Bachmann dies in an arson attack on a food stand . His brother Zacharias Bachmann owns various snack bars. The chief detective Bruno Ehrlicher and M. Kain, who are in charge of clearing up the case, get to hear from Bachmann that his brother had more decency in his body than ten of their kind. He answers other questions from the commissioners evasively and is not interested in working with them.

On the grounds of the American football team Dresdner Cobras , Lothar Wagner confronts two of his teammates with regard to the arson attack on the snack bar. He says he always knew that something like this would happen and makes it clear that he does not agree with the actions of his friends Arno and Mike. Shortly afterwards, Karin, cheerleader for the football team, meets her friend Erich Kleist, who was in prison for six months. Whenever he wants to kiss her, she turns her head and evasively replies to his later question that she has to get used to him again. When Ehrlicher and Kain are called to another accident the next day, the coroner explains to them that the man sitting in the car was already dead when the car was crashed into the tree. The dead person is Erich Kleist. He had broken several bones after a football game Zacharias Bachmann, which is why he had to serve a sentence. When Kain visits Karin, her friend Andrea is also present. Karin doesn't want to admit her boyfriend's death. Ehrlicher meets with Bachmann meanwhile and asks him about his alibi for the last night. Bachmann lets the inspector know that he is delighted from the bottom of his heart that one of them has finally got caught. He does not respond to Ehrlicher's question what that means.

In the club's sports room, Lothar Wagner informs his friends Mike and Arno that he wants to get out. After a few sarcastic remarks, Mike said that it might be a good thing, then he wouldn't have to see his tearful face anymore. On Arnos objection: "What if he squeals us," replies Mike only in a contemptuous tone " of ?" Makes as Lothar Wagner shortly afterwards in the sauna an infusion, he collapses dead after he desperately previously has resorted to the neck . Investigations show that the infusion water from the bottle was interspersed with cyan nitrate . Lothar's mother Annemarie, who is in a wheelchair, shows her despair. Her boy was always decent, everyone liked him. Cain finds a green rubber man in Lothar's room, just like one was lying in front of the burned-out snack bar. The commissioners disagree on the case, Kain thinks there is apparently a hit list, while Ehrlicher is convinced that there is no connection between the two cases.

On the premises of a transport company that also belongs to Bachmann and transports animal carcasses, the inspectors find it hanging on a hook under the ceiling and free it. However, he is still unwilling to testify and even expelled the officers from the property. Cain tries to speak to Erich Kleist's friend Karin again, who tells him that Bachmann called her several times before Erich was released and threatened to kill the whole gang. She does not comment on Cain's suspicion that Erich and his friends are involved in protection rackets. So Kain takes another look around the premises of the transport company and finds that Bachmann has manipulated meat deliveries with regard to the best before dates. He then sold this meat, which was actually no longer suitable for consumption, at a profit in his own snack bars. Arno, Mike and his friends found out and blackmailed Bachmann with their knowledge. Since the labor inspectorate has established beyond any doubt that the meat in Bachmann's stalls is more than two months overdue, Bachmann finally admits, cornered, that the boys blackmailed him, but maintains that he didn't kill any of them. Maybe it was Mike who suddenly showed up nine months ago and asked him 10,000 DM. Two months later the others came and asked for twice as much, and about two weeks ago they reappeared. However, he refused, and then they killed his brother.

When Arno drinks from his bottle on the sports field the other day, he gets breathless and it is only thanks to Ehrlicher's intervention that makes him vomit that it does not end fatally for him. Meanwhile, Cain pursues the fleeing Mike, who is able to escape him. In the hospital, Arno admits that they put the remedy in the bottle for Lothar Wagner that contained the infusion, but did not want to kill him, just wanted to scare him off. He doesn't know why Erich Kleist is dead. In the meantime Mike has found a way to ask his friend Andrea, who is accompanied by Karin, to get the money that he has hidden in his apartment for him and then to come to their meeting point. When the girls with the money are back in their apartment, Ehrlicher and Kain ring the bell. When asked what she uses to kill the butterflies she has prepared, Andrea answers with cyan nitrate. The officers then take them to the police station. Her interrogation reveals that Karin was raped about three months ago in the course of a ceremony, which she couldn't cope with. Andrea says she didn't know how to help her friend. When Erich found out about it, he attacked Mike, who just struggled and it happened. Everything happened so quickly, she doesn't know exactly how. At Ehrlicher's urgent request, she reveals where she wanted to meet her boyfriend Mike. Just as the commissioners appear at the meeting point, Karin is about to give Mike a fatal injection with the poison. Distracted by Kain's call, Mike escapes, and Karin directs the lethal injection against himself. Mike can be arrested by Ehrlicher, but Kain fails to get Karin to abandon her plan. The young woman can no longer be saved. Ehrlicher said to his colleague that people have not changed for 5000 years, they have always been the same as they are today. When Cain asked what he was like today, he replied: "Vulnerable."

criticism

“The Dresden duo needs four corpses again to keep the crime thriller (more content) on course to some extent. That doesn't speak for author Christian Limmer. And the staging? 90s post-GDR look, a nonsense that doesn't go with this brutal corpse-and-rape story ... "

- Rainer Tittelbach : tittelbach.tv

“Four corpses, one rape - the script is very overloaded. Conclusion: many dead and too little heart and soul. "
