Trübe Wasser is a television film from the crime series Tatort of ARD , ORF and SRF . The film was produced by MDR under the direction of Hans-Werner Honert and first broadcast on March 11, 2001. It is the crime scene episode 465. For the chief detective Bruno Ehrlicher and his colleague Kain , it is the fourth case that they investigate in Leipzig .

action

Dentist Jens Schewe, drinks dealer Josef Behrens and sports teacher Bernd Matzke, three members of a rowing club, are blackmailed by Paul Hahn. All four have been keeping a secret for ten years that Paul now wants to monetize. He is in financial trouble and has no other advice. Shortly afterwards, Paul is attacked with an iron rod and rolls slain into the White Elster .

The next day his body is found and the commissioners Ehrlicher and Kain are notified. Ehrlicher learns from Bernd Matzke that Paul was allegedly hunted by some drug dealers from Ibiza . Hahn had spent the last nine years there and now he had just returned home. According to Cain's research, he had run a disco there and had actually gotten into the drug scene. However, there are no indications that people recently traveled after him from there.

In search of the murder weapon, Ehrlicher searches the river and is successful. On this occasion, the divers recover an old barrel. When they open it, the remains of a person are found in it. According to the pathological examination, the dead man was probably killed before 1990. Cain takes a boat up the White Elster in the hope of finding a clue from where the barrel was thrown into the river. After a few kilometers he discovers similar barrels that belong to Josef Behrens' beverage trade. Cain is surprised to find a member of the rowing club here, of all people. The actual origin of the barrel, however, is an old factory that has since been shut down. A former worker remembers that at that time a Dieter Künzel from the rowing club had fetched some of the empty barrels for a landing stage. However, Kain cannot question Künzel because he disappeared without a trace in autumn 1989 . His ex-wife reports that he left her pregnant and after a year sent her money and a letter from Los Angeles explaining that he had found a new love. Then she would have comforted Dieter's rowing colleague Jens, with whom she has lived for seven years.

While studying the files on missing persons in November 1989, Ehrlicher and Kain come across a robbery on a museum, in which valuables worth over two million DM were stolen. It is noticeable that the security guard who was tied up and gagged by the perpetrators was called Josef Behrens. So all three rowers are targeted by the investigators.

Since the identity of the deceased cannot be clarified and Ehrlicher suspects that it is Dieter Künzel, he has a DNA sample taken from his daughter Anna. However, this is negative. Maria Hahn now finds out through photos that her husband used to have a homosexual relationship with Bernd Matzke. Chased by Matzke, she knocks him down and flees. The police are notified and before Ehrlicher can speak to Matzke, he hangs himself.

This clears up the murder of Paul Hahn, but not the circumstances of Künzel's disappearance. Cain can research that Josef Behrens was in Los Angeles in 1990. When he tries to interrogate him, Behrens suffers a heart attack and dies. Jens Schewe then said that one should have expected it to be as sick as Behrens was. Ehrlicher had the contents of the bottle checked intuitively, from which Behrens last drank, but the preparation that was found in Behrens' body after the autopsy came from a tooth seal that Schewe had inserted shortly before.

When Ehrlicher and Kain visit Schewe and confront him with the results of their investigation, he admits that he had a quarrel with Künzel at the time, as he had learned that his wife was not expecting his child. At that time he would only have slept once with Künzel's wife and would not have wanted any of that ......
