Hans-Werner Honert (* 1950 in Leipzig ) is a German film director and producer .

Life

Hans-Werner Honert graduated from the Leibniz High School in Leipzig in 1969 . Then he did his military service . As a private of the NVA he took part in September 1970 in the 1st poetry seminar of the FDJ in Schwerin . From 1971 to 1975 Honert studied at the Institute for Cinematography in Moscow (master class from Prof. B. Stolper).

From 1976 to 1990 he was a director for the German TV broadcaster (DFF) in the GDR . During this time he appeared as the author of radio plays as well as various TV and cinema material. Honert, a member of the SED from 1971 , became a member of the PDS after the fall of the Wall in the GDR . As their top candidate in Berlin-Friedrichshain , he was elected to the city ​​council of East Berlin on May 6, 1990 , but retired early.

From 1995 to 2012 Hans-Werner Honert was managing director and producer at Saxonia Media . In these 17 years he led Saxonia Media to become the largest film production company in Central Germany. It produces series developments such as In allerfreund , which is counted among the most successful German series today, or formats such as Tatort , Polizeiruf 110 and many major TV films. He also worked as a mentor at the Konrad Wolf University of Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg and gave seminars at the University of Leipzig . Hans-Werner Honert lives as a freelance writer, director and producer in Berlin and Leipzig and is a member of the German Film Academy .
