Lilli moved from the village of Frankental to Hamburg and made a career as a model and instead stopped working on her career as a fashion illustrator. Anna's best friend Max lives in the same house as Lilli and has looked after her for the past two years. Lilli is now living her own life. Her manager has created a new past for her, it is said in front of the press that Lilli is an orphan and a scion of an old noble family. Photographer Tom Grosse is given the task of documenting Lilli's life in photos for a report.
When Anna stands at Lilli's door, a lot changes in Lilli's life. She believes she can never make amends for her mother's sacrifice and allows Anna to live in her apartment. At the same time, she cannot cope with being treated like a child again, especially since Anna will soon be taking over the entire apartment and interfering in Lilli's career, putting her at risk. Anna soon got a job as a saleswoman at the Hamburg fish market and found a person in street girl Nicki to look after. When she prevented the marriage between Lilli and the influential publisher Rainer Maria Jüppner without being asked, Lilli's modeling career was destroyed. None of his papers print campaigns with Lilli anymore, her publisher Frank drops them. At the same time, articles appear in which Lilli is branded as the daughter of a fish seller and thus a con man. Besides Max, it's only Tom who stays with Lilli during this time.
There was a break between Anna and Lilli and Anna moved to St. Georg. Through Max's mediation, the two women find their way back together over time. Anna and Lilli go on vacation to the North Sea together and Lilli opens Anna's eyes to the fact that Max loves her and has always loved her. Max also found the courage to confess his love to Anna under the influence of Tom, who loves Lilli. Tom and Max go to the women at the North Sea. Lilli confesses her past to Tom and finally finds the courage to face the police. Her mother will be rehabilitated, Lilli will be tried, but she will not face any prison sentence. She now wants to study design. Max and Anna become a couple and fulfill a dream: They open a fish stall on the North Sea.
criticism
The film service called In the end, love wins a "conventional (television) melodrama"
TV Spielfilm wrote: “Mother Marianne Sägebrecht slows down her daughter's soaring with old-fashioned wisdom. That sucks in the long run. Conclusion: Too much love is too much of a good thing ”.
