Diego Wallraff (born November 30, 1961 in Colombia ) is a German actor .

Life

Diego Wallraff was born in Colombia. He attended school in Germany and initially trained as a car mechanic with the Hamburg police. After completing his military service in Wuppertal and Schleswig , he completed an acting training at the University of Music and Theater in Hamburg . He is the brother of the actor Cuco Wallraff .

From 1985 to 1991 Wallraff was engaged as a theater actor at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. There he played in the play Ghetto by Joshua Sobol , in the now legendary production by Peter Zadek . He appeared in William Shakespeare's plays Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet, directed by Michael Bogdanov .

In 1986 Wallraff played his first leading role as Olaf Marx in the television film Das Go! Project by Oliver Hirschbiegel . 1989 followed a role in the Viennese crime scene money for the Greek of the ORF . From the beginning of the 1990s Wallraff was then regularly seen in German-language television productions. He took on continuous series roles, recurring episode roles and often guest roles.

Wallraff was often involved in ZDF productions, including in several episodes of the hit series Das Traumschiff (1996, 2006 and 2008). ZDF also cast him in 1995 in the Rosamunde Pilcher television film The End of a Summer . At the beginning of 2010, Wallraff was seen in an episode of the dream ship spin-off Cruise into happiness .

Due to his southern appearance, Wallraff was often used on television and in film in the role of the attractive exotic lover, the easy-going handsome and gigolo, but often also as a seedy gangster and psychopathic criminal.

Wallraff has also appeared in numerous international cinema productions . In 1994 he played José at the side of Antonio Banderas and Jennifer Connelly in the film adaptation of the novel Von Liebe und Schatten by Isabel Allende . The American comedy film The Perez Family with Anjelica Huston followed in 1995 . Wallraff also starred in several American television series, including Acapulco HEAT and Renegade .

Wallraff has lived in Santa Monica , California for several years .
