On his birthday, the family would like to surprise him with a new home and practice. But Susanne dies in a car accident. A world is collapsing for the doctor. The uncle, Johannes Kleist, invites the nephew with the children to Eisenach in Thuringia . The citizens of the Wartburg city urgently need a doctor because their predecessor has passed away. Dr. Kleist seems to be exactly the right person for this. Finally, the doctor decides to move to Eisenach with the children. When he met the school principal Marlene Holstein while looking for a parking space, the story took its course: Marlene and Christian became a couple. They get married and become parents of little Paul. They also adopt Marlene's niece Clara.

At the beginning of the sixth season, Christian Kleist founded a group practice with his daughter Lisa, now a gynecologist, and his son Peter, now a physiotherapist. Lisa and Michael get married and he is given the position of chief physician at the local hospital, which is a great stress test for the young family. This intensifies when Christian Kleist decides to buy a computer tomograph and hires a radiologist for it: Timotheus von Hatzfeld. He gives Lisa the attention that Michael cannot give her due to lack of time, which leads to a serious marital crisis for Lisa and Michael.

After Inge Kleist and Bernd Spengler came back from a joint holiday abroad, Inge suffered severe pneumonia and, as a result, an allergy that forced her to leave Eisenach. With a heavy heart, she and Bernd move away from Eisenach for a while. After her financier has closed down, Anna Schöller tries to stand on her own two feet and travels a lot. Christian tries his best to use the credit for the practice and the expensive CT machine and takes on assignments as an emergency doctor in order to earn additional money. He can only cope with this double burden with medication , which sooner or later makes him dependent.

Anna leaves Christian after she finds out that Christian has not told her about his drug addiction. Piwi's partner Anke breaks off a stay in Singapore because she is pregnant by Piwi. She had a premature birth at the end of the sixth season. The group practice is temporarily in dire straits when it turns out that von Hatzfeld treated children and adolescents without a license as a pediatric radiologist.

Lisa leaves the group practice and goes to Paris . Her successor, the single parent Tanja Ewald, also becomes Christian's new life partner and moves in with him with her daughter. Peter also turns his back on Eisenach and the group practice, he moves to Switzerland with Anke and their son.
