Herzsprung was married to Barbara Engel from 1979 to 2008 . The couple separated in 2007, after which pictures of Herzsprung and a 19-year-old model reached the media as paparazzi history , which, according to the photographer, was staged by Herzsprung in order not to be seen as an abandoned husband after the separation.
