occupation

Die Zwillinge vom Immenhof is a German film by the director Wolfgang Schleif from 1973 with Heidi Brühl and Horst Janson as well as the twins Birgit and Bettina Westhausen and Olga Chechowa as grandmother Arkens in the leading roles. It is the penultimate of the five Immenhof films that were released between 1955 and 1974. It pretends to tie in with the film trilogy of the 1950s that took place on the fictional Immenhof estate (the setting was Gut Rothensande ) in Schleswig-Holstein . The film had its cinema premiere on December 18, 1973.

action

Brigitte Voss, formerly Dalli, is returning to her home country after years due to excessive workload to relax at Gut Immenhof. The Jantzen family no longer lives on the estate, but the Arkens family, consisting of the twins Billy (Sibylle) and Bobby (Roberta), their father Alexander and their grandmother, known as the Tsarina . The twins treat Dalli warmly and hope that she will stay longer.

Alexander Arkens, the widowed tenant, welcomes Brigitte Voss in a relatively rude manner because he believes she is behind the termination of his lease. Due to the economic situation, which does not allow a lease on new terms, Alexander Arkens is forced to think about emigrating.

Brigitte Voss has no idea how the property management she has commissioned deals with her tenant and only later learns where the tension between her and Alexander Arkens is coming from. When she resigns from the property management team, Dalli and Alexander Arkens get closer, but the appearance of Brigitte's former boss, who wants to bring her back, causes further confusion.

Relation to the previous films

From the original cast of the trilogy from the 1950s, only Heidi Brühl remains. The film contains two vaguely wordless flashbacks that do not allow us to conclude how things went on with Dalli's family and the Immenhof.

As in the first three films, it is used that the vet in turn adores the grandmother.

criticism

The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was a "cozy revival of the Immenhof stories of the 50s."
