action

The self-confident court reporter Hella Fischer travels to the country on behalf of her jealous daughter Karin to keep an eye on her new friend Harry. Hella quarters there incognito at the Mühldorf Castle riding stables. Harry and the attractive professional rider Sabine Lex go on a ride. Harry had described his riding partner to his girlfriend Karin as old, ugly and bowlegged. Hella overcomes her phobia of horses and follows them in a small horse-drawn cart.

During the observation, Hella's horse is startled when another horse suddenly comes galloping out of the thicket without a rider. Hella loses control of her car, hits her head and passes out. When she wakes up, she looks into the eyes of Kurt Schleyer, who is taking care of her. What Hella does not yet know: Marga Lex, co-owner of the riding stables, had a fatal accident in the forest. On the way back to the riding stable, Kurt and Hella pass the alleged accident site. The police saw what was happening as an accident, but Hellas instinct told her that this was not a normal accident. Regardless of her actual job, Hella tries to find out what is wrong here. She finds evidence that Marga's brother Olaf, a greedy businessman, has something to do with his sister's death. But Hella's new friend Kurt, who was divorced from Marga, is also suspicious. He claims that Marga left him the farm, but has no will to show. The local notary Dr. Bruno Stoll, who is in league with Olaf, withheld.

Hella isn't sure who the culprit is, she just knows that Marga's horse Freeman was frightened by a big dog and ran away because of it. Because Karin is dissatisfied with Hella's investigation results regarding her boyfriend Harry, she travels after her mother to get an idea for herself. From now on, Karin and Hella will try to solve the case together. Both break into Notary Stoll's at night and by chance find the lost will behind a picture on the wall. The following day, the two of them also find the dog with a farmer who Olaf used as a "tool" to frighten the horse. Hella and Kurt then confront the unsuspecting Olaf and the notary with their findings. Olaf loses his nerve and admits that he just wanted to prevent Sabine from participating in a tournament. The notary pretends to be innocent. Olaf is arrested and the farm falls into the right hands. Hella declares that she wants to stay on the farm with her new love Kurt. Karin and her friend Harry announce that they want to get married. Eventually everyone learns that Hella and Karin are mother and daughter.
