Martin Weinek (born June 30, 1964 in Leoben , Styria ) is an Austrian theater and film actor and director . He played the role of Inspector Kunz in the television series Kommissar Rex .

Weinek completed his acting studies with Peter P. Jost from 1983 to 1986 . From 1986 he first worked in the Theater Gruppe 80 in Vienna and received his first small film role in the postseason , where he played a lift boy .

In 1987 he played at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen under the direction of Georg Mittendrein in Der Lechner Edi looks into paradise and in the film Müllomania , directed by Dieter Berner , in which he played a garbage man. This was followed by an engagement at the Jura Soyfertheater Vienna (1988–1989) and engagements at other theater stages; in addition, Martin Weinek worked as a director , dramaturge and producer . From 1990 to 1991 he was the artistic director of the Hernals City Theater .

In between, Weinek was often active in film and television; for example in 1989 in the six-part television series Calafati Joe .

Together with his wife Eva, who initially worked as a dramaturge after studying theater studies, he is not only an actor but also a wine maker . The two started as a hobby winemaker in 1993 and cultivate three hectares of vineyards in a renovated house near Hagensdorf in the municipality of Heiligenbrunn .
