Gaby Hauptmann (born May 14, 1957 in Trossingen ) is a German writer and journalist .

Journalistic activity

Hauptmann completed a journalistic training with Südkurier in Konstanz . After two years as a travel editor at Südkurier be made captain in Lindau with a press office independently . From 1987 she worked as editor-in-chief of the private broadcaster " Seefunk Radio Bodensee ". She then worked at the Tübingen regional studio of Südwestfunk ( SWF 1 ) and in the Südwestfunkzentrale in Baden-Baden for SWF 3 .

While at the SWF, Hauptmann began working for television, first as a writer and later as a producer and director . For example, she produced a series of television interviews for Hessischer Rundfunk under the title Pp - Prominenz privat (27 episodes) and numerous portraits. Hauptmann produced several documentaries for the SWF . Among them was a documentary about her grandfather, the Black Forest painter Karl Hauptmann , with Karl Hauptmann and the art of living . Until 2003 she hosted the literary program Willkommen im Club at the TV station VOX together with Lea Rosh .

From May to December 2019, Hauptmann conducted weekly in Konstanz through the talk show Talk am See with Gaby Hauptmann, which was broadcast on SWR television on Saturday evening .

Writing activity

Gaby Hauptmann published her first book for young people in 1994 under the title “Alexa, the Amazon”. Soon thereafter, her bestsellers "Search for impotent men for life", "Only a dead man is a good man", "The lie in bed" and numerous other novels appeared. Her books have been translated in over 35 countries and some have been made into films . In Germany alone, their circulation is over ten million.

The horse book series Kaya has been published since 2005 - free and strong for young readers. Twelve volumes have been published to date. The Berlin film producer Regina Ziegler was interested in the film adaptation of the youth book series for television. At first, the SWR showed interest, but then - after the great success of the Wild Soccer Guys - preferred a soccer series. Internationally, the Kaya series could be sold in the following eight countries: USA, Canada, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovenia.

Private

Hauptmann lives in Allensbach on Lake Constance.
