Fritz von Friedl , actually Fritz Friedl (born April 17, 1941 in Berlin ), is an Austrian actor , dubbing and voiceover.

Life

Career

Fritz von Friedl studied acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna . He had several engagements at theaters in Austria and Germany, including in Oberhausen and the Thalia Theater in Hamburg . In Vienna he was engaged at the Theater in der Josefstadt and the Ensemble Theater . From 1972 to 1978 he was also a permanent member of the ensemble at the Vienna Burgtheater . In the 1980s he worked with George Tabori for four years at the Wiener Schauspielhaus in the ensemble Der Kreis .

As a child, von Friedl worked in Austrian and German film and television productions from 1958. In 1962, for example, he played the wood servant Franzl in a TV version of Ferdinand Raimund's romantic magical tale The Alpine King and the Misanthrope . In 1974 he was hired by Hans-Jürgen Syberberg as examining magistrate Larrass for the cinema production Karl May . Since the 1980s he has also appeared in front of the camera in several international cinema productions and television series .

In addition to numerous German-language productions, Fritz von Friedl also played in American and French films. In 1979 he starred under the direction of Édouard Molinaro alongside Marie-Hélène Breillat and Mathieu Carrière in La pitié dangereuse , a French film adaptation of the novel Impatience of the Heart by Stefan Zweig . It followed in 1983 and 1988 small roles in the US mini-series The Firestorm and in the sequel Firestorm and Ashes . In 2003 he played a pathologist in the television adaptation of Henning Mankell's novel The Return of the Dance Teacher . He also had a small role in the 2004 movie Klimt .

In the course of his further acting career, Friedl was also regularly seen in Austrian and German television productions, in which he took on several continuous series roles, recurring episode roles and also guest roles. He had recurring roles series including in the Austrian ORF - TV serials Kaisermühlen Blues and Schlosshotel Orth and Julia - an unusual woman alongside Christiane Hörbiger . In this series he played the role of doctor Dr. Burger suspected of a possible medical malpractice.

For over thirty years Fritz von Friedl has worked for the ORF as a spokesman for cultural and political contributions on radio ( Ö1 ) and television and is regularly involved as an off-speaker for film documentaries and as a voice actor.

Fritz von Friedl works as a reciter with literary programs. In programs he reads from novels , memories and correspondence from Alexander Lernet-Holenia and Karl Anton Wolf .

Private

Fritz von Friedl and his sister Loni von Friedl , who is also an actress, are the children of the Austrian cameraman Fritz von Friedl . One of his three sons from two marriages is the actor Christoph von Friedl .

Von Friedl lives in Vienna and is a member of the board of the Association of Austrian Film Actors (VÖFS).
