Correspondence
As correspondence a series of is letters referred to send two people over a long period. This can be formal or part of a pen pal .
In literature and in science , correspondence played an outstanding role, especially in the 18th and 19th centuries , which also extended well into the 20th century . For artists and in romantic relationships , correspondence has retained its importance to this day, but in business and among scientists it has largely given way to e-mail . The correspondence between well-known writers , philosophers or artists often represents a separate genre of literature . Examples of this are, among many others, the letters from Goethe to dozens of well-known personalities, the letters from the Brothers Grimm , or those from Nietzsche , Kracht / Woodard or Philipp Melanchthon .
Correspondence between well-known politicians and researchers has also entered literature and history , for example from Gustav Stresemann or Arnold Sommerfeld . For a well-known astronomer of Goethe's time, Baron Franz Xaver von Zach , his lively correspondence was even the reason for the foundation of the first scientific journal .
